How to install GIMP on Xubuntu 16.04

When it comes to photo editing or image editor on xubuntu, you can't go wrong with GIMP, in my opinion GIMP is the best image editing software on xubuntu, it is also free. So this article is about installing GIMP on xubuntu.

If on windows operating system you have photoshop and corel draw, on xubuntu you can use GIMP for editing image, actually GIMP also available on windows too. GIMP is a free and open source software.

It may not have all of the fancy features that photoshop has, but GIMP is good enough for basic to advanced image editing, jumping from photoshop to GIMP may require little bit of learning curve, but once you done it, you'll see that GIMP is awesome tool.

Step by step how to install GIMP on xubuntu 16.04
  • open command line, press CTRL + ALT + T
  • run this command to install GIMP
  • sudo apt-get install gimp
  • done!

Once installed you can find GIMP under xubuntu start menu > Graphics > GIMP Image Editor.


How to uninstall GIMP
If you decided GIMP is not the one for you, and you want to get rid of it, you can uninstall GIMP using this command:

sudo apt-get purge gimp
sudo apt-get autoremove
