There are two command line tool that does exactly the same thing, the regular apt-get command and the more simpler apt command, what's the difference between these two commands? why they both exist? is apt-get will be remove soon?
Both apt and apt-get command does exactly the same thing, which is install and uninstalling software packages from the repository. But the difference is the apt command is more user friendly because it has a fancy green colored progress bar that shows percentage of the process.
The apt command also makes you type less than apt-get command, only few letters but for some people might be important. But other than that, there are no other difference in my opinion, in terms of install and uninstalling software.
Some people think that the apt command is a new thing, but that's not true, apt command already exist since ubuntu 14.04 trusty, so it's not a new feature and certainly not going to replace apt-get command.
